  Wireless Network Computing

The increased use of laptop computers within the business environment and in worker mobility has fueled the demand for wireless networks. Until recently, wireless technology was a patchwork of incompatible systems from a variety of vendors. The technology was slow, expensive and reserved for mobile situations or hostile environments where cabling was impractical or impossible.

With the maturing of industry standards and the deployment of lightweight wireless networking hardware across a broad market section, wireless technology has come of age where its low costs have attracted large and small businesses alike to take part.

To remain competitive in today's marketplace, businesses need to enable employees to interact efficiently with customers, partners and colleagues. Employees need better, faster, easier access to the corporate network - within the office, from home and on the road.

With Circulent™'s wireless network services, we can help your company provide needed business information to your employees, customers and suppliers in real-time - regardless of where they are. We help you conduct business virtually anytime, anywhere.

Wireless technologies can increase productivity inside and outside of the office and potentially deliver a rapid return on investment. We can help you to quickly and cost-effectively deploy and manage nationwide or international wireless LAN communication systems. We also support virtually all aspects of wireless e-business and the mobile enterprise - including wireless automation of e-mail, messaging, customer contacts, calendaring, sales force and field service applications, and more.

  What is RAM?

RAM, or Random Access Memory, is the place in a computer where the operating system, programs, and data in use are kept so they can be quickly reached by the computer's processor. RAM is much faster to read from and write to than the other kinds of storage in a computer (e.g. hard disk, floppy disk, CD-ROM). However, the data in RAM stays there only as long as your computer is running. When the computer is turned off, RAM loses its data.

RAM is comparable to a person's short-term memory, while a hard disk is comparable to long-term memory. The short-term memory focuses on immediate work, but if filled to capacity, the brain can refresh data from what's stored in long-term memory. A computer also works similarly.

If RAM fills up, the processor needs to continually go to the hard disk to overlay old data in RAM with new data, slowing down the computer's operation. Unlike the hard disk which can become completely full of data so that it won't accept any more, RAM never runs out of memory. It keeps operating, but much more slowly than you may want it to. This is why more RAM is always preferred on a workstation, but especially a server.
