  Firewall Management

Your company's firewall is the first line of defense between your business and the world outside. It's also the most effective means of protecting your network from unauthorized access. But in today's business, the technology environment changes rapidly. With new security threats arising daily, many companies struggle to keep up with the many requirements for effective and timely firewall management.

Does your small to medium-sized business (SMB) even have a firewall? When was the last time it was updated? Is it managed proactively or reactively? Believe it or not, ignoring these complex devices over time can lead to multiple points of vulnerability for your business. This is the same business which holds priceless amounts of data, and heavily relies on technology to operate.

  What is a Worm?

An Internet worm is similar to a virus by its design, and is considered to be a sub-class of a virus.

Worms spread from computer to computer, but unlike a virus, it has the ability to travel without any help from a person. The biggest danger with a worm is its ability to replicate itself on a computer, so rather than a computer sending out a single worm, it could send out hundreds or thousands of copies of itself, creating a huge devastating effect. One example would be for a worm to send a copy of itself to everyone listed in a computer's e-mail address book. Then, the worm replicates and sends itself out to everyone listed in each of the receiver's address book, and the manifest continues on down the line.

Due to the copying nature of a worm and its ability to travel across networks, the end result in most cases is that the worm consumes too much system memory , causing computers & servers of all types to stop responding.
